Celebrating the Doyenne: Sonali Malhotra

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Sonali Malhotra is a blogger brushing up on beauty, luxury, lifestyle, and fashion.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness is more than nutrition, exercise, or the state of freedom of disease. It is a dynamic state of awareness of the nonphysical aspects of life such as will, motivation, feelings, desires, sense of purpose, thoughts, memories, and beliefs. I want to give myself and my mind its own time, it’s own space and do things that make me happy. The state of wellness influences occupation, friendships, social involvement and self-worth. A lifestyle of wellness creates a positive attitude toward self, others, and society in general. It is a willingness to learn and experience new ideas and to establish a positive approach toward an imperfect life.

Your success mantra?

Success comes to those who dare to dream, to people who truly want to succeed. It does not come knocking on the doors of people who only wait for things to happen on their own. There is no success spell, so if you want it, go get it.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Mistakes teach us to clarify what we really want and how we want to live. It teaches us to accept ourselves and that we can be flawed and be loved and also teach us, through analysis and feedback, about what works, and what doesn’t. So always be prepared for what’s about to come but don’t be disheartened when it doesn’t work in your favour.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Confidence is a gift you give yourself. To love yourself right now, just as you are. You have to stand up and say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with me or my shape or who I am.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

The fact that I can influence even one person in being confident about themselves and in their body is something that drives me to do better, it’s such a proud feeling when I get a message from somebody thanking me and telling me that I impacted their life in some way, that’s what I work for.
