Celebrating the Doyenne: Dr. Disha Dinakar

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Dr. Disha Dinakar is the Co-founder of Digvijaya Herbals, a brand providing 100% natural and handcrafted organic products.

What is your wellness philosophy?

I have a holistic approach towards wellbeing. For me it is more than nutrition, exercise, or the state of freedom of disease. It is a dynamic state of awareness of the nonphysical aspects of life such as will, motivation, feelings, desires, sense of purpose, thoughts, memories, and beliefs. Wellness is a ‘self-directed wellbeing’, in other words, each of us must set up our own system of self-care, based on individual needs. To understand the significance of wellness, I started to understand how it’s linked to health. To attain a healthy living, I strive to maintain my mental wellness, environmental wellness, financial wellness, professional wellness, physical wellness, spiritual wellness etc.

Your success mantra?

My success mantra totally depends on what my goals are or what am I looking to succeed at. Although my mantra has always been love what you do, be persistent and consistent in doing every work and you will definitely achieve success. One more thing: never give up!

With my own beauty brand Digvijaya Herbals, my only mantra is to focus on my customers’ needs along with bridging the gap between their skin/ hair concerns and helping them choose the right products for them. As a beauty entrepreneur, I aim to constantly take up new challenges as a factor of growth and implement whatever I learn and always stay consistent.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Mistakes become invaluable lessons of life. No one is immune to making mistakes – we are human, after all! But if we simply apologize and carry on as before, we’re in danger of repeating the same errors. I personally begin with owning my mistakes and analyse ways to not repeat it. I do not beat myself up about making mistakes. I pause for a moment to reflect, and start thinking about how you can gain from the situation. This brings a sense of self- awareness within me. Another thing I have learnt is to be patient in every little thing I do.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

One advice I would like to give every woman out there is do not give up on your dreams . Today you might want to listen to others opinions around you but there could be a day where you would regret not taking up and it would be too late. Another is to be your own leader. Women today have set an exemplary example for generations to come in the field of business, art, politics, fashion and so on. This only proves one thing that there’s nothing to stop us from doing what we love. All you need to do is be determined and focused on your goals until you achieve it and stay consistent.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride has been the recognition of my efforts which I’ve received through my clients feedback worldwide. My pride lies in my customers’ happiness.
