Celebrating the Doyenne: Meenu Agarwal

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Meenu Agarwal, founder and principal designer of MADS Creations, has been recognized as India’s leading Interior Designers.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Designing luxury homes for clients involves a complex bunch of processes, that are both exhilarating, as well as stressful, because there is no room for laxity. So I believe in taking care of my body and mind with a set of routine activities that help me relax and take on a busy day with calm and composure. I work at the gym every morning and do a bit of meditation. The daily ritual of prayer in front of the altar also gives me a lot of peace and strength. I don’t miss that.

Your success mantra?

My mantra to success is knowing my passion and following it with dedication and hard work, without being deterred by challenges. Making each challenge a learning process, I have learnt to leave behind setbacks and focus on good work.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

One lesson learnt is to constantly eliminate even the smallest of mistakes so that we can achieve flawless results each time. That’s why I believe in pursuing perfection in every task.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

If you have a strong inclination towards something and want to make that your occupation, you must go ahead and work towards that. And give your best and work dedicatedly with patience towards realizing your dream.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Starting out on my own and gradually growing our business into a one-stop destination to cover a spectrum of architectural and interior services – turn-key solutions for all kinds of residential projects, bespoke custom furniture, statement accessories, and design consultation, has been a great feeling. When we found it difficult to source the right kind of luxury furniture and accessories that matched our style and was also cost-effective, we started designing and manufacturing on our own. These bespoke designs add a unique sense of style and luxury to our projects. Today, it has grown into a parallel business. And we are ready to take on bulk orders from architects and interior designers for custom-made furniture. More than anything, with my passion I have created an organisation that provides employment to several people, including women. In fact, the production head at our factory is also a woman. We strongly believe in women power and we have more women than men in our team. I would say, it is these efforts that give me a sense of pride.
