Celebrating the Doyenne: Shalini Jaikaria

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Shalini Jaikaria is the Creative Director at Geisha Designs, a brand with delicate embroidery, striking textures, vibrant motifs coupled with meticulous precision in detail that make their creations beautiful inside out.

What is your wellness philosophy?

I believe a healthy mind creates a healthy body and a healthy environment, so investing myself in meditation and exercise is essential to me.

Your success mantra?

My success mantra is putting 100 percent on whatever I do means giving my best effort and attention to every task or project, regardless of its importance or difficulty level. This approach to work can be highly effective in achieving success and reaching your goals.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Finding the right team includes employees having positive thinking and self motivation. I once had an employee who was a very skilled tailor. The way he worked always impressed me, but he had a poor attitude and attendance, yet we tolerated him because we loved his work but in the end we realised he just created a bad environment and poor vibes in the office.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

We women are born in a very privileged time where the bars are already set up pretty high. It’s the first time in history we are given equal status and for women sky’s the limit I would say trust in yourself and it’s a wonderful time to be in.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Sustaining my business and growing over the past 20 years is my biggest pride as a doyenne. Working in a very large team coming up with new collections, being able to amaze the clients and get them. I am really proud that I have been able to sustain it and enjoy the whole process.
