Celebrating the Doyenne: Seema Arora

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Seema Arora is the co-founder of Rad Living, an idiosyncratic brand that caters to the untamed side of the human brain with reinvigorating candles, poured one at a time for a unique experience.

What is your wellness philosophy?

My wellness philosophy is centred around the belief that self-care is a crucial part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I believe that taking the time to care for ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally is essential for overall wellbeing.

I also believe that surrounding ourselves with natural and calming elements, such as candles, can have a positive impact on our mental and emotional state. By creating candles made with high-quality natural ingredients and scents that promote relaxation and calmness, I hope to help people incorporate a small act of self-care into their daily routine.

Your success mantra?

I believe in putting quality first, which has become our success mantra. I can ensure that it is being reflected in our products and our consumers have accepted us wholeheartedly for the same. The focus is to not just make the highest quality product but invest our time in making our customers feel welcomed, heard and an important part of the Rad family.

Our team’s success comes from a strong work ethic, a willingness to take risks, and the ability to adapt to change. By staying committed to these principles and always striving to improve, I believe, we can continue to grow and succeed in the market.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Important lessons that can be learned from making a mistake as a home-grown brand are the importance of listening to customer feedback and continuously improving the product and packaging based on that feedback. The product line turned out to be completely different from expectations and the importance of conducting thorough market research and understanding the needs and wants of the target audience. This won’t be called as mistakes but as learning calls.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

As a woman myself, I will share one of the most important pieces of advice, is to always trust yourself and bring your abilities to surface. It’s easy to fall into the trap of self-doubt and imposter syndrome, but it’s important to remember that you are just as capable and deserving of success as anyone else.

Another piece of advice I would offer is to cultivate a strong support system of other women. Having a network of like-minded women who can offer guidance, support, and encouragement can be incredibly empowering and uplifting. We must get inspired by each other.

Finally, I would encourage women to prioritize themselves and make time for their health, even amidst their busy schedules. It is essential to take care of yourself mentally and physically for achieving long-term success and fulfilment. We must consider it an investment in your overall wellbeing and happiness.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

For me in the candle industry, my biggest pride might be the impact I have made on the industry through my innovations and commitment to customer satisfaction. I take pride in seeing our brand grow, and in knowing that we have created something that brings joy and comfort to people’s lives.

Additionally, I would love to be a role model for the next generation of candle makers and entrepreneurs.
