Celebrating the Doyenne: Nilofar Jaques

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Nilofar Jaques is the Founder of Anayah Jewellery, a modern, celebratory brand with classic and timeless costume jewels that holds meaning and reflects your personality.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Workout. Meditate. Diet. These three simple terms seem easy and short on the ears, but committing to them for a long-term goal is arduous. Hence, I believe in tweaking minor changes rather than getting on to massive change to avoid getting overwhelmed. Understanding that wellness needs to be taken seriously, such as your meetings, should be your prime goal. I schedule my workouts, what to eat in a day, relaxing time, just like an important shareholder meeting. Winding down to bed by knowing you have given your wellness a top place will help you sleep peacefully, too.

Your success mantra?

Just as the golden hours are the highlight of any picture, repeating a positive mantra before I start my day is essential, too. It’s like coffee, but for my soul. It’s a ritual to repeat ‘I can both honor my process and embrace the future’ along with ‘I am worthy of my dreams and goals’. They are the lines that keep me motivated throughout the day as they urge me to believe in myself.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Wearing the entrepreneur badge comes with heavy truths, such as you will make a lot of mistakes in the process and will be held accountable too for it. But rising from those difficult situations through pure determination, hard work, and strategy is all worth the mistake. One lesson I have learned the hard way is ‘Don’t be ashamed to ask for directions’. We are just humans after all. If you are in a tight situation, learn to approach the right people who will get you out of it. Because waiting for a miracle to happen is the fairytale we are looking for in the 21’st century.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Find your passion. This particular line has been reiterated to its full capacity, but it holds a sense of magic to me. Women are slowly yet gracefully emerging in the business arena to bring about certain changes. To start somewhere, find your passion and the change will beautifully follow you. If you are passionate about one thing, it will effortlessly change the way you perceive the world. As women, we know that things are not as easy as a cakewalk, but it can seem like a ramp walk once you find your zest of passion.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride is with no doubt my brand, Anayah Jewellery. Day in and out, we as a team have worked laboriously to bring Anayah Jewellery as a well-known name for opulent costume jewels with cutting-edge designs. The glittering range is a reflection of my life that celebrates my father’s inspirational journey. It is a splendid bridge that keeps me rooted in Indian heritage and craftsmanship. As a doyenne, Anayah Jewellery is my biggest pride.
