Prerna Rajpal is the founder of AMARIS, a fine jewellery brand. Her eye for detailing and the creative challenge and opportunity to work at the source with the karigars helped her plunge full time to design masterpieces that celebrate the beauty in women in particular and life.
What is your wellness philosophy?
An extensive workout routine and a well-balanced diet is a non-negotiable for me. I always have a book on my bedside table to unwind, as my days are incredibly hectic. Reading, travelling, spending time with friends and family and indulging in an occasional spa or facial brings me immense happiness.
Your success mantra?
In my opinion, hard work, precision to detail, exploring how things are constructed, understanding each process and keeping my team motivated to innovate is my mantra for success.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
No matter the mistake, the key is to treat every mistake as a learning opportunity and being swift to react and adapt. When you are taking hundreds of decisions every day, there could be some that might be sub-optimal, but being able to spring back and handle each crisis makes a true leader.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
I think as women we lead such multi-faceted lives, there’s so much on our plates at any point of time, that I feel we must show ourselves some self love and keep some me-time every day. It’s extremely important to unwind and give yourself a breather now and then.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
Building AMARIS from the ground-up despite all the struggles is my biggest pride. It’s a completely self-funded business and literally started in the basement of my house. When I look back, the journey of these last 10 years has been the most incredible, filled with many highs and lows. Today when AMARIS is recognised as one of the most innovative and disruptive fine jewellery brands in the country, and when I see the leading ladies of Indian cinema sport our jewellery – it fills my heart with tremendous pride.
