Celebrating the Doyenne: Sanah Ahuja

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Sanah Ahuja is the founder of House of Amel, a contemporary take on comforting baked classics, with a special focus on individual elements. Versatile yet individualistic, Amel’s exquisite range is conceptualised to give every ingredient the attention it deserves.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Eat everything, but in moderation. Listen to your body. It always tells you what it needs. Walk to clear your mind. Look after yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Your success mantra?

To understand the ever changing & evolving market and to cater to the same, to focus on quality and to always accept feedback in a constructive way.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

To make mistakes is as important as to have successes. One learns more from something that one does wrong than what is done right.

A few years ago, we decided to move our production kitchen to a bigger space assuming we will be able to cover the increased overheads with the increase in business. However, while the overheads increased tenfold, the business increased only marginally. What we learnt was to increase the business first and then move to a bigger space.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Work with an honest & sincere approach, be ready to face obstacles with a smile, and remember that all good things take time.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

To have the courage to imagine/dream and then turn those dreams into reality, which is the most challenging part.

Not giving up, especially on days when that’s the easiest thing to do.

To constantly make the brand & the team grow, and to grow as a person/chef/business owner with it.
