Celebrating the Doyenne: Natashya Phillips Coutinho

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Natashya Phillips Coutinho is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Luke Coutinho Holistic Healing Systems Pvt. Ltd.

What is your wellness philosophy?

The two pillars to my wellness have to be balance and simplicity. I do try and maintain as much of a balance in all the elements in life that are important to me. I also try as much as I can to keep things as simple as possible.

Your success mantra?

My success mantra in my opinion really comprises two things. One, I use my strengths to the best of my ability whenever and wherever I can and when I am not able to, I make sure I delegate it to the right person who can. (This is only in my professional life, not personal life of course.) Two, I think the biggest contributor towards our success as a company is identifying the right resources to work for us– our success is hugely impacted by the fantastic team we have that supports us.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Oh! there are one too many of these, but one that was the most recent is of utmost importance- to make sure we say or convey the right things, and if we are not able to, then sometimes just not commenting or making a statement might also help rather than unintentionally offending or hurting people. I think it made me realize how necessary it is to hold on to my thoughts and not always say the first thing that comes to my mind – especially professionally.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

I think I would tell women how important it is to have a mind of their own. There are so many opinions and schools of thought that are floating all over us, on social media especially. I think if we as women don’t have a mind of our own, it is very easy to be swayed and pulled towards multiple thoughts and beliefs that may not always resonate with who we are as individuals. We have to know who we are at our very core and be that – Just be the best version of you there is.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

I think being a part of this very feature that recognizes me as a doyenne in itself gives me immense pride and gratitude. Other than that, being a part of the amazing establishment that Luke has created, the platform that he has given us all to rise and shine makes me very proud. I’m proud of being a part of the vision, a vision that is good, a vision that is pure and it’s not just helping me grow as an individual but also helping others grow along with us.
