Celebrating the Doyenne: Natasha Tuli

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Natasha Tuli is the CEO at Soulflower, India’s 1st preservative free brand providing cruelty-free skin and hair solutions for over 20 years.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Being mindful and as natural as possible is my take on wellness. Soulflower stemmed from the need to provide customers with natural and quality beauty products. Needless to say, that drawing on the gifts of nature and being as natural as possible is key to wellness according to me. The beauty industry continually inundates you with new standards of beauty while pushing products that guarantee to make you achieve your desired look. Everyone has insecurities but I’m here to tell you that everyone IS beautiful, and beauty is not just skin deep. If you feel good, you look good. Being mindful of what you nourish yourself with is extremely important. Nature and all her offerings, our rich Indian heritage tradition of Ayurveda and personal care remedies passed down generations are all the wealth of knowledge you need to enhance your inner beauty and get that glow of wellness. I believe in the goodness of all-natural ingredients and traditional remedies that have stood the test of time which is why at Soulflower we keep the process as organic as possible with the philosophy of farm to face, ensuring that we give our customers access to pure quality products. Our products are lovingly put together and they carry personal stories of age-old remedies. The wellness and wellbeing of our customers is important to us, so you could say that mindfulness is not just limited to myself but also to our customers.

Your success mantra?

My mantra is you never give up and just simply do what you have to do to get the job done. I bring this energy and passion to every task. Surviving a brain hemorrhage and bouncing back from it would not be possible without this outlook. Passion drives everything and you MUST be passionate about whatever you do. This, along with the strength to go against the flow for something you believe in is integral. Soulflower is a fun fast-paced environment to work in because our team is passionate about what they do. Having said that, while being ambitious about proving yourself is important you need to also be selfless and think beyond self. The best businesses are the ones that display an emotional intelligence that resonates with customers. Soulflower was founded with the idea to inspire and empower women, and to encourage love and compassion for living beings. Since its inception we have made sure to not lose sight of these core values. Staying true to who you are matters.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

I have learned to own my mistakes and view them in a more forgiving light. Making mistakes keeps you humble and on your toes while providing you with perspective. So, my advice would be to embrace your mistakes, learn all you can from them and do everything in your capacity to never repeat it.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

In my opinion women compromise too much and give up easily. So, my advice would be to place more faith in yourself and be more unforgiving when it comes to your standards. Rather than thinking of your gender, choose to focus on your potential and what you have to offer. Do not encourage stereotypes of yourself. Be and do whatever you truly wish to do. Pursue it with abandon and ambition. Make yourself heard and be limitless.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

I think the number of souls that I’ve touched through this journey is a point of immense pride and joy. Be it four legged, two-legged, or winged, I have always strived to bring joy, build lasting connections and make an impact and my experiences so far have enabled me to touch more souls than most and for that I am forever grateful.
Professional achievements make me proud of course and there will always be new feats to achieve, but if an interaction with me has brought you joy or helped you for the better, I consider my job done. Through Soulflower I have been able to achieve a fraction of that and I am extremely proud of that!
