Celebrating the Doyenne: Dr. Karishma Jaradi

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

“Smile Nice”, with that as her axiom, Dr. Karishma Jaradi, Head Dental Surgeon and an Implantologist, is in charge of the maintenance of the strict standards of care and professionalism at Dentzz Dental.

What is your wellness philosophy?

For me, wellness in itself means overall wellbeing, and it involves not only physical but mental, social, and emotional wellbeing as well.

Your success mantra?

Balance, I think a well-balanced life leads to success in every aspect. Right from your mental, social and physical wellbeing, everything contributes to success.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Post my pregnancy after my second kid was born, I went on a crash diet to lose the pregnancy weight faster and I didn’t pay attention to my body. I was quite harsh on myself and did not take it easy, which led to more health issues. It also led to a lot of damage to my overall wellbeing and that, in turn, caused me a lot of mental stress. I did not respect my body, and that is something I would never do again and always advise others not to do it too.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

One piece of advice to all the women out there would be very simple and that is; we are not less than anyone, we can achieve whatever we want but at the same time we are not out there competing with men. I think we are here to synergistically grow and it is nothing but teamwork. I feel it is a collaboration of everyone together, whether it is women with other women or men with women. Together, we need to make a difference and we will, but we cannot ever be harsh on ourselves and think that we are second to no one.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

There have been times when I have met women from our industry who have come up to me and asked how I manage work, clinic, kids as well as personal life. Many of them have praised me for my efforts and I think I have managed to bring about a decent work-life balance and that is something I take pride in. Additionally, I feel that this motivates other women to do similarly and not give up on their dreams. It makes me feel very proud if I’m able to set an example.
