Celebrating the Doyenne: Shivika Poonglia

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Shivika Poonglia is the co-founder of Itara, a luxury Lab Grown Diamond Jewellery brand. Itara is introducing you to a new era of conscious luxury by weaving diamonds into everyday life, celebrating all moments and milestones. From delicate classics, versatile pieces to wear from day to night, to bespoke creations that are uniquely you. Each Itara piece is made with care, and unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship for jewelry that lasts a lifetime.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness is self-care and taking time out to do whatever it takes to centre yourself, especially after stressful or hectic days. It’s important to understand wellness is holistic. It encompasses physical, dietary, emotional, and social wellness. I try to check-in with myself on each of these aspects.

Your success mantra?

Success is continuous learning within your industry and evolving to adapt to it as it changes and expands. It’s crucial to do something disruptive and innovate within your space to stand out.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Mistakes are inevitable. Learning to not feel deterred and keep trying is key. Itara Jewelry is a new product. As a start-up, we face challenges every day, but I learnt to not feel demotivated and instead channel that energy into moving forward and doing better. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

We’re an all women team at Itara. You have the power to create the success you want, and when women support women, we can make incredible things happen.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Itara jewelry and the mission we stand for. I’m proud to be backing a product that’s disruptive, and innovative. We’re aiming to make diamond jewelry ethical, accessible, and sustainable. It’s something that people are slowly understanding, but I’m proud to stand for a product that’s future-oriented and mindful.
