Celebrating the Doyenne: Deeksha Rai Chawla

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women's Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Deeksha Rai Chawla is the CEO of Housee of Cleeo. She is a Process Specialist and loves to design and plan to extract nothing, but the best! She has self-learned the art of jewellery-designing and her collaboration with the talented artisans has given her the invaluable experience in this industry.

What is your wellness philosophy?

From having a positive frame of mind to eating healthy and balanced food in the correct proportions is what I would call “My Wellness Mantra”. It is so normal for women to feel they are obligated to take care of everyone else before themselves. I’ve been there and I would just say - loving, pampering, caring for yourself and putting your wellness first, not only benefits you but everyone around you as well. Only when you are happy and healthy, you can take better care of your loved ones.

Your success mantra?

Hard work, Dedication, Consistency and Constant Learning are what make you successful at work. But I strive for a Successful Life. I do not measure success by numbers and targets as I have an extremely high level of expectations from myself. I measure success by feelings of fulfilment. I feel I am successful at the end of a day when I achieve the goal that I have set for the day for work, I have spent good quality time with my son, my husband and my family and I have taken some time out for doing what I love (like watching my current favourite Netflix series or reading my favourite book). A Balanced Life and Attitude is the definition of success for me.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

My biggest mistake was not to trust myself to do a certain task at work, namely, SALES. To delegate a task in question, it's important to experience and try it out yourself first. Turns out, I now understand every part of my Online Jewellery Boutique Business, right from design conception to Creation, Manufacturing, Photoshoot angles, Website Designing and Hosting, Social Media Marketing and Sales. This required 3 Years of dedication, hard work, consistency, learning from my mistakes and evolving along my journey. I now see things from a very different place and am able to resolve issues at a faster pace due to my growth in the business.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

My advice to all the women out there who are aspiring to be a businesswoman and are planning to start their Entrepreneurial Journey - Don’t Let Anything Hold You Back. Make sure you have the right intention, you have some savings or a way to earn alongside to pay off during the investment period. Having said that, I will stress the fact that doesn’t dive in without adequate planning. If you are on a low budget, compensate and find ways to do the work yourself first before hiring more people. Having an IT background and some experience in website building, I created my own website. But I had to learn a lot along the way. I had to also invest a lot of time and energy in understanding the various processes of Jewellery creation. I did everything from scratch. All of this - while taking care of a 6-month-old. So yes, you do have flexible hours of work when you are your own boss - but there will be days when you are spending most of your day just learning without being productive. Know that, it's okay. This is just a process that will ultimately lead you to a place of confidence, self-sufficiency and fulfilment. After all, isn’t that why we work so hard to build our own empire?

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride is that I have finally come to a point of Fulfilment in my life and yet, I strive to become better each day. I have achieved so much and come so far in my Entrepreneurial Journey. I have overcome fears, hurdles and difficult situations and have emerged Victorious. Happiness means different things to different people. To me, it's all about seeing my son, husband and family happy while fulfilling my career aspirations and taking good care of my emotional and physical health along the way. My Online Jewellery Store - Housee of Cleeo is a reflection of my beliefs. Every now and then, I like to write to and remind my audience of beautiful and powerful women that vulnerability is also a part of being a woman. But yes, to evolve from that vulnerability is the challenge that we all need to face now and then. When you Believe in yourself, Miracles Happen
