What is actually a Hair Spa Treatment?

It is but an all-in-one solution for all your hair problems. It’s a repairing and rejuvenating treatment to bring your hair to life. After the damage from daily dust, dirt, pollution, chemicals, and heat, your hair needs deep conditioning to bring back the long-lost moisture, shine, and luster. It’s used to treat the scalp, the stands, and several hair problems like dandruff, hair thinning, hair fall, hair breakage, oily scalp, rough hairs, itchy scalp, split ends, etc. So how does the magic work?

The Step By Step Process Of Hair Spa Treatment

1. Oiling

The Hair Spa treatment starts with oiling our hair followed by a head massage. The first step makes sure that you are calm and are in a relaxed state. There are a variety of natural and essential oils for a specific hair type and targeting specific hair problems, or you can even make a personalized oil by mixing up the oils. Two are always better than one.

● Heat up the oil a little before applying. This stimulates the hair follicles and makes it easier for oil to penetrate deep into the scalp. It repairs hair damage and promotes natural oils.

● Apply the oil in a circular motion with some pressure-specific area, massage gently, and then spread out the oil to the strands. Let the oil soak into the pores for some time. Massaging improves blood circulation and soothes capillaries and nerves.

A regular oil massage is much needed to keep the shine, luster, and moisture intact. Oiling makes the hair shaft hydrophobic which prevents the outer cuticle from swelling and forming a rough texture. It also protects the hair shaft from pollution and harmful UV Rays.

2. Shampooing

To remove the excess oil and dirt, you need to wash off with a shampoo that suits your hair type. There are a variety of shampoos available for different hair and scalp problems. Make sure that the shampoo is sulfate and paraben-free. Check for the labels like SLS-free (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) and SLES-free (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) on the back of the product.

Try to go for mild and conditioning shampoos to avoid your hairs from drying out completely and the loss of natural oils. The scalp shouldn’t be too greasy or too dried out. The shampoo must keep the softness and hydration intact.

● Gently massage your scalp in circular motions to clean the roots and take off all the oil, dirt, sweat, and bad odor. Make sure you use your fingertips rather than your nails.

● After that rinse off the shampoo using lukewarm water. This gives relief from scalp irritation and calms your nerves.

3. Hair Mask

This is the most important step of the hair spa treatment. You can choose any hair mask or any hair cream. This step is to provide deep conditioning to your hair and repair the damage to the hair shaft. You can use a ready-made hair spa cream or make a natural hair mask homemade of honey, curd, banana, avocado, green tea, or eggs.

● The hair mask should be according to the treatment you need, the hair type, and the condition of the scalp. The main idea is to provide the essential nutrients your hair needs to repair. Choose the ideal hair mask for your hair to see the best results.

● Apply the hair mask over your scalp to the end of the hair. Then leave it for 15-20 mins to soak into your roots. A hair mask reverses the damage that has been done. It re-locks the natural oils, hydrates your hair, improves the texture, nourishes the scalp, and strengthens the hair strand. After just a few minutes you can see a noticeable difference, hair becomes more smooth, soft, and shinier than ever before.

4. Massage

Hair massage is the ancient secret for healthy, strong, and long hair. Traditional hair massages are famous for a reason, it has numerous benefits. Start massaging your head with both hands by putting moderate pressure. Move-in small circular motions and cover all areas gradually. This will help in distributing the hair mask uniformly in every corner. If it feels dry you can add some more hair masks too.

● Try massaging the scalp for a good 10 minutes. Make sure you only use your fingertips while massaging. Or you can even use a scalp massager to avoid any micro-cuts on your scalp with nails.

Massaging helps in promoting hair growth, it increases the blood flow through the scalp resulting in hair thickness. It is equally relaxing as well, releases the happy hormone serotonin, and boos the mood.

5. Steaming

The next step is steaming. Steaming further helps in the absorption of the goodness of the hair mask into the scalp and the hair shaft. This step is done to get the most out of the hair mask and soak the nutrients. More effectively it will work, the better results you will see. You can use a steamer to get some blow-off steam.

Otherwise, you can use a hot towel. Soak that in hot water for a few minutes, squeeze out the excess water, and wrap it around your head. Keep that for at least 10 minutes to get some steam to your hair. You can do it multiple times in case the towel gets cold.

Steaming brings back your hair to life after all the damage from dust, pollution, and chemicals by intensifying the moisture in your hair and scalp. Steaming deep cleans the pores, loosens up the excess dirt and dead cells to be removed after the final wash. It flushes blood through your scalp, boosts the natural oils, and makes hair look overall healthy.

6. Rinsing

The last step is to rinse off all the dirt, excess oil, and hair products. Use any mild shampoo, which won’t dry out the scalp and the hair shaft. Gently massage your scalp and hair follicles in a circular motion to take off all the dirt and unwanted elements. At last, rinse off with lukewarm water.

Follow up with a good hair conditioner to provide extra protection to your hair. Conditioner makes the hair smooth and tangle-free and hence prevents breakage. Let your hair dry naturally and flaunt your strong and healthy hair.
