This is What it Means to Live Well

Redefining the concept of holistic living and luxury, Avas Wellness is emerging as one of the most aspirational addresses on India’s west coast.

In Alibaug, a destination long associated with weekend getaways and second homes, Avas Wellness is reshaping the idea of what it means to live well. For Aditya Kilchandani, Founder and CEO, Avas Wellness, wellness isn’t a checklist of activities or a weekend escape; it’s a framework for how we inhabit our daily lives. Drawing on a design-first ethos, holistic community building, and an integrated approach to food, movement, and rest, Avas seeks to weave wellbeing into the fabric of everyday existence.

From its transformative residences at Avas Living to its latest visionary project, Ananta by Avas—complete with Alibaug’s first racquet club and expansive recovery facilities—the brand is transforming luxury real estate into a living, breathing ecosystem of health and connection.

We get into a conversation with Aditya Kilchandani to learn more about the foundation, the integration of wellness, and what’s yet to come!

Excerpts from the conversation below:

1. What does ‘Avas’ mean?

'Avas' means 'to inhabit. It reflects our belief in truly inhabiting the spaces we live in, not just occupying them. At Avas, this translates into creating environments that encourage presence, balance, and a more intentional way of living.

2. What gap were you looking to fill in the wellness space when you thought of Avas Wellness?

Most wellness offerings felt fragmented and, at times, intimidating. You go to one place to work out, another to eat well, and another to slow down, often with a very strict or all-or-nothing approach. Avas Wellness was created to bring everything together into one integrated ecosystem that feels accessible and easy to engage with. It is not about rigid routines or heavy commitments but about a tailored experience that adapts to individual wellness goals and naturally becomes a part of everyday life.

3. What role does infrastructure play in wellness? When someone spends extended time at Avas, how do you want the space to change their daily behaviour?

Infrastructure quietly shapes habits. When spaces are designed with intention, they naturally encourage movement, rest, connection, and mindfulness. At Avas, we want people to slow down, spend more time outdoors, move their bodies with ease, eat consciously, and reconnect with themselves without effort.

(Aditya Kilachand, Founder & CEO of Avs Wellness)

4. Food is a big part of wellbeing. What did you want to do differently there?

We wanted food to be clean, honest, and nourishing without being restrictive. To approach this thoughtfully at the Avas Wellness Center, we brought together nutrition experts and a dedicated culinary director, Chef Suvir Saran. A Michelin-starred chef and long-time faculty member of Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives at Harvard and the Culinary Institute of America, he champions food that nourishes the body, mind, and soul. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients, mindful sourcing, and balanced meals that support energy, longevity, and comfort while remaining enjoyable and rooted in everyday eating.

5. What sets Ananta by Avas apart from other luxury developments?

Ananta by Avas is designed around active, intentional living. It brings together modern tropical, Balinese-inspired villas with a strong focus on wellness and community. The Avas Racquet Club, complete with a dedicated recovery center, encourages movement, sport, and restoration as part of daily life. It is designed to foster connection, movement, and a shared lifestyle rooted in wellness.

6. The Avas Racquet Club is also Alibaug’s first. Tell us more about it…

The Racquet Club is an extension of our belief that movement should be enjoyable and social. It brings together tennis, padel, fitness, recovery, and community spaces under one roof, creating a destination where sport, wellness, and connection come together naturally.

7. How do you see Avas projects transforming Alibaug’s real estate landscape?

We see Alibaug evolving from a weekend destination into a place for long-term, meaningful living. Avas aims to build thoughtfully designed micro-communities in strategic parts of Alibaug, with shared community spaces at their core. With a strong emphasis on wellness and design, our projects focus on creating environments that support everyday living, meaningful connections, and a more balanced way of life.

8. What’s your favourite part about Avas Wellness?

The fact that it feels effortless. Wellness does not feel forced or curated. It naturally becomes part of how you live, move, eat, and rest, while being shared with a like-minded community. There is a quiet sense of connection that comes from living and spending time in a space where wellbeing is collective, not individual.

9. What is your wellness mantra?

Inhabit your best self.

10. What’s next for you?

We want to continue building thoughtful ecosystems that blend wellness, hospitality, movement, and mindful living, both in India and beyond. Our focus is on doing this well and with intention, ensuring that every community we build stays true to the values Avas was founded on and genuinely enhances the way people live.
