Meet the Sibling Duo Behind India’s Bhajan Clubbing Movement

Prachi and Raghav are the sibling duo behind the Bhajan Clubbing movement that brings forth music, spirituality, and creating meaningful experiences for Gen Z.

How is Gen Z unwinding? Going to parties? Drowning in intoxicants? Taking bad decisions? – this is what the world perceived this generation to turn out to be. Surprisingly, you will find the young adults attending wellness workshops, hosting pop-ups, indulging in self-care and the most recent – Bhajan Clubbing!

'Bhajan Clubbing', is essentially people swaying, singing and vibing to spiritual music — minus the alcohol, exclusivity or usual club distractions. It brings together the energy of a live concert and the grounding feeling of a satsang. And leading this movement is Backstage Siblings, a Kolkata-based music duo made up of siblings Prachi and Raghav. What started as intimate living room-style sessions has now turned into packed gatherings across cities, with thousands singing along in unison. But despite the scale, the intention remains simple: helping people disconnect from noise and reconnect with themselves.

In conversation with GlobalSpa, the duo opens up about growing up with bhajans, creating spaces for emotional connection, and the rise of spiritual wellness among Gen Z.

1. Were you always inclined to music? Or is it something that came much later in your life?

Music was always a part of our lives. We grew up going to satsangs with our father, so bhajans and people singing together were things we experienced from childhood. It never felt separate from us. It was a part of how we connected, expressed ourselves, and found peace.

Later, when we both entered demanding corporate careers, life became very fast and overstimulating, but music was the one thing that continued to ground us. Over time, we realised we were not the only ones craving that feeling of connection and calm, and that thought eventually became the foundation of Backstage Siblings.

2. Where did the idea of Backstage Siblings come from?

Backstage Siblings started right at home. We simply wanted to create a space where people could come together, sing freely, and feel something real. Our first session was a small living room-style show for around 50 people, and that was fully sold out! What began as one small gathering slowly became show after show, city after city. Today, we have seen crowds of over 10,000 people singing with us, but the feeling has remained the same.

As the audience grew, we realised people were not just coming for the music but also for the feeling in the room. That became the heart of Backstage Siblings: creating spaces where strangers start singing as one and where the audience itself becomes the main stage.

3. Why Bhajans and Spiritual Music? Did you ever think of tapping into any other genres of music now that you are a well-known name?

We actually sing across genres. Our sessions have bhajans, Bollywood, poetry, folk, and songs people can easily sing along with us. But bhajans remain very important to what we do because they bring peace, emotion and energy that is hard to recreate.

For us, the idea has always been to help people disconnect to connect. In a world where everyone is constantly consuming content, bhajans create a pause. They allow people to sit together, sing together and feel present without any pressure.

We also feel there is a clear shift, especially among Gen Z. People are looking for experiences that feel more real, calming and emotionally grounding. They want spaces where they can participate, belong, and feel something beyond the usual noise. That is where Backstage Siblings comes in. Whatever genre we sing, the intention remains the same: to make people feel connected, peaceful and fully present.

4. What has been the best and most memorable concert to date?

It is very difficult to pick just one because every city brings its own energy! Some of our most memorable moments have been when thousands of people sing together so wholeheartedly that it stops feeling like a performance and becomes one shared feeling. Being mentioned by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on Mann Ki Baat was deeply humbling. Performing at Anant Ambani’s birthday celebration was also a very special moment for us.

But beyond these, what stays with us most are the quieter moments. Seeing people cry, hug each other, sing with their parents, or leave lighter than they came in. Those moments remind us why we started Backstage Siblings in the first place.

5. How important do you think Spiritual Wellness is in this already overstimulated world?

We think it is more important than ever. Everyone today is constantly consuming content, scrolling, reacting, and moving from one thing to another. Somewhere in all of that, people are craving stillness, peace, and a deeper connection with themselves.

For us, Spiritual Wellness is not only about religion. It is about presence. It is about being able to pause, feel, breathe, and connect with the people around you. That is also why our sessions are intentionally free from alcohol and other distractions. We want people to experience what it feels like to simply sit together, sing together, and be fully present in that moment.

6. Three things (apart from music) that help you unwind?

Family and friends, definitely. No matter how hectic life gets, being around our people always brings us back to ourselves. A good meal also helps. There is something very comforting about sitting down, eating well, and just slowing down for a bit. And being at home. With the amount we travel and perform, home has become the place where we truly unwind, reset, and feel like ourselves again.

7. What's it like working with your sibling every day? Do you ever butt heads creatively?

All the timeeee! That is part of the package when you work with your sibling every single day. But the best part is that with siblings, the honesty is very real. We can disagree, argue over the smallest creative detail, and then move on like nothing happened. There is no formality, and that actually helps the work. Creatively, we both bring different things to the table. One of us may be thinking emotionally; the other may be thinking practically, and somewhere in the middle, the balance happens.

8. What’s next for Backstage Siblings?

Right now, the biggest focus is taking the Backstage experience to more people across the world. We have already performed across 20 plus cities in India and begun our international journey with shows in Dubai and Singapore. We now have upcoming shows in Germany, London and South Africa and are also looking at markets like the US and Canada. At the same time, we want to keep evolving creatively without losing what makes Backstage feel like Backstage. Whether it is a show for 500 people or 10,000 people, the idea remains the same: to make people sing, feel present, and experience something real together.
