Celebrating the Doyenne: Harini Sivakumar

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Harini Sivakumar is the Founder of Earth Rhythm, a 100% vegan and cruelty free brand. Each of the formulas used in the products are created in-house by trained Cosmetic Chemist and are made to be effective, safe and backed by cited scientific research.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness, I believe, stems from the strength within each of us to face everyday hurdles and consistently invest in holistic (mental, social and physical) well-being. I am a fitness enthusiast and a cyclist, so, for me, cycling is both my stress-buster and a fervent passion. It not only helps me unwind, but also clears my head and promotes clarity of thought. I believe that all of us have something to go back to when it comes to wellness of the mind and body; we only need to recognise it and begin our wellness journey from there.

Your success mantra?

I never give up. That is something that has helped me all through. There will always be hurdles but always be blessings, too. One must neither be extremely demoralised by the former nor celebrate the latter too much.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

That it is okay to make a mistake and forgive yourself for it. We are human and we are bound to err. We often forgive others for their mistakes, but fail to forgive ourselves. If you don’t forgive yourself, you won’t be able to move on.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Invest time and effort in recognising your talent and nurturing it. Society is not bereft of hurdles, rules and judgement for both men and women, but women have far to go. All around you, women from all walks of life, whether working or not, gradually recognise their immense contribution to society. This cosmic change has been more the result of women’s determination and confidence than the support of society at large. So never let anyone tell you otherwise.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride as a doyenne would be the brand that my team and I have created together. It brings me immense joy and exhilaration, and inspires me in more ways than I can enumerate.
