Celebrating the Doyenne: Urvi Soni

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Urvi is the founder of Vuri, a Sustainable, eco-friendly, Made in India brand that deals in sustainable clothing for a killer wardrobe without killing the planet.

What is your wellness philosophy?

For me, everyday is well lived when you truly are doing what you love to do and what you find meaningful in life. Working on my dreams, makes me happy and keeps me sane.

Your success mantra?

A lot of people think that success comes with having too many resources. But, it’s more about being more resourceful, working hard, believing in yourself, your vision and your journey. The more you learn, the more you will grow.

I started my sustainable fashion label, Vuri Studio during the pandemic, with no outside resources whatsoever. From designing, to stitching, to doing photoshoots, to post production work, handing accounts, managing the website to even delivering the orders, I had to do it all by myself as a one woman army. I had to make Vuri happen and I had to do it all by myself and, I am so proud of where we are right now.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Having the ability to get everything done by yourself is a very important thing to learn in one’s life but, it’s just as important to be able to be a leader and also nurture different sorts of relationships. While you should know how to do everything, it doesn’t mean you should do everything by yourself. It is very important for you to surround yourself with a good team of people who can help you achieve your goals and support your dreams. Your vision starts with you but, it comes to reality with the help of a supporting team.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

My piece of advice for all the women out there is that they should always believe in themselves and believe in their vision. Once you do that, you can make anything happen.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride is the satisfaction of knowing that what I am doing with Vuri is helping make the world a better place to live in. We make clothes that help save the planet and with every garment we sell, we are taking a step towards a greener future. We are reducing the textile waste that ends up in the landfills. We give our clothes a new life, a second chance. It fills me with pride to know that I am a part of this growing sustainable revolution that our planet needs right now.
