Celebrating the Doyenne: Priyanka Raina

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Priyanka Raina is the Co-fiunder of Maate. She is an entrepreneur, and a humanitarian has been passionate about raising awareness and the uptake of maternal and child health. With her R&D and due diligence firmly in place, Priyanka has been the key driver in the formulation of a range of care products that are enriched with Natural Ayurveda-inspired herbs and plant-based ingredients. She sets Maate apart with her ambition for products focused more on efficacy and less on cosmetic allure, laying a strong foundation for Maate’s powerful and ethical business values.

What is your wellness philosophy?

This remains challenging at times, but the key for me is to regularly see family and friends, and do exercise. But I feel like there really is no right or wrong approach to wellness. This is simply what makes the most sense to you, as an individual, with a life and body to care

Your success mantra?

I don’t have any such mantra for success, but I could certainly say that I have a foundation that I have developed based on my personal experiences and whatever I have learned along the way.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

It’s critical to be transparent, candid, and own up to the error. The best kind of mistake is where the costs are low but the learning is high. I have made a number of choices along the way and most of them I still stand by. Some I would have done differently, in hindsight. But there are moments through which I have learned the most about myself and what I want in my life. My biggest learning is that I have a great gut feeling. I only have to listen to it more often.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

We women are divine; with the ability to bear a life or to even perceive a peaceful world, there is nothing that we cannot do if we put our minds to it. There will be times when you doubt yourself and your abilities because the world is quite unfair, it may not be how we want to see it, but let us not give up, we can always achieve what we want, no matter the time, it is the effort that is worth it.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Launching maate! To be able to induce Mother Nature’s essence along with sustainability and environment-friendly upshot (products) as an essential part of thousands of families across India and have a growing and loving community. And as a mother, I am delighted to be able to encourage and help everyone out there as a part of my own beautiful family. It’s been a rewarding journey to see so many happy parents who truly admire maate & its products.
