“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women's Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.
Geeta Yadav is the VP-Sales and Marketing at Refresh Botanicals, a natural and organic skin care brand with products formulated to bring healthy skin.
What is your wellness philosophy?
Wellness is a healthy link between mind and body. Practicing positive thought processes can create an environment for actively experiencing a happy life. Thought processes can own your reality. Think about it: perceiving a glass half full versus a glass half empty can change your entire thought process and therefore your perceived reality. My wellness philosophy is to actively experience life through a positive lens. Every thought process is linked to an emotion, which in turn is linked to our overall well-being.
Your success mantra?
Success to me is consistent small wins that eventually equate to a ground-breaking wins. Small wins can be disguised as challenges: every challenge I face is an opportunity to learn and evolve. There is no “failure” in my vocabulary but a chance to redefine and recalibrate. So in essence, anything that was once viewed as a “failure” is now redefined to “growth”. To me, growth and lessons learned are definite small wins.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
Mistakes are often put in the form of rejection. For me, rejection equates to redirection. It’s chance to see what may not be working and an opportunity to at the very least make improvements. With this mind-set, mistakes are merely lessons learned and shifting your focus to possibly something even greater that you hadn’t even thought of before. Mistakes in a sense give you the lesson to broaden your horizons and act against the grain.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
Be fiercely independent, ferociously out of the box, claim your space, and celebrate your wins. I think a lot of women are put into the category of, “daughter”, “mother” and “wife”. I think women can still be in those categories (if they wish) and also invest in their personal and professional growth. In doing this, women will be required to learn to say “no” when something is not serving them and in turn say “yes” to opportunities that are initially posed as challenges. We are seeing women around the world contribute to various industries and sectors as leaders and innovators while shaping our future generations – we need to see more!
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
My biggest pride is shaping the way women feel about themselves through my work every day. This ranges from consumers of our brand, Refresh Botanicals™ to our internal team. Confidence is key, and partaking in healthy rituals is a form of self-love. These acts of self-care can range from positive affirmations to partaking in an organic skin care regimen. I think at the end of the day before we can succeed in business, we have to humanize it in an ethical, socially responsible manner.
