Celebrating the Doyenne: Ratna Garg

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Ratna Garg is the co-founder of Dupatta Bazaar, a digital first, direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand that creates timeless ethnic fashion for men and women all around the world and is customer centric. From very humble beginnings with just 35 varieties of dupattas, today we offer a wide range of 3500+ designs of exquisite dupattas, stoles, scarves, and sarongs and have successfully delivered more than 7 lac orders to date worldwide.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness to me would be – a healthy heart and a happy mind. Having said that, it is critically important to maintain a balance between the two because they co-exist. A slight tilt towards one would adversely affect the other. Like it’s impossible to be happy when you’re physically unfit, as it is to be happy when you’re dieting all the time.

So balance definitely is the key.

Your success mantra?

If you are earning money by having fun, that to me is being successful.

Follow your passion and success are sure to hop along.

As clichè as it sounds, the truth in that statement can only be felt by those who have experienced the joy of doing something they love. Pure bliss, I’d say!

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

One thing I learnt along my journey and cannot empathize enough is that customers are business and the back-bone of any success in a business! Putting your customers first helps in winning their trust and loyalty. In short, putting their needs #1 will make you #1 in the long run.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

I urge all the lovely ladies out there to go all out, trust your gut, explore your passion and follow it with all that you’ve got. Trust me, there is no better feeling than getting up on a Monday and being ecstatic about going to work! We all are God gifted, it’s just a matter of finding the gift and then grabbing it hard.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

This beautiful business venture that we have built from scratch is my biggest pride. The very fact that our business is able to give back to the society by providing employment to a plethora of underrated and extremely talented rural artisans makes my heart swell with pride.
