Celebrating the Doyenne: Dr. Chiranjiv Chabbra

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Dr. Chiranjiv Chabbra, is one of the leading Dermatologists in India today with a special interest in Cosmetic Dermatology. She is the Director at SKIN ALIVE CLINICS which is now known as ALIVE WELLNESS CLINICS, INDIA, a chain of cosmetic dermatology clinics.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness is a state of mind and being of our existence. With the mind and human body evolving each day, adapting to internal and external changes, wellness is an ongoing journey, a transformation at times but a never-ending process.

Your success mantra?

Whatever you do, do it with all your heart! Listen to your patient. Make friends with Technology. Gain as much clinical experience & exposure as possible. Always respect your team members to create an efficient support system.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

So, most of the things that shape a doctor’s practice are learned on the job. When I started my practice in 1997, despite being from one of the leading Medial institutions, I sometimes felt our treatment plans were not that evolved. It was the use of topical products, sometimes a lot of antibiotics, and limited access to technology. With passing years, I started to realize there is no same rule for every skin, no same-treatment plan, no same-medicine, no same-product, because no skin is the same. It was during my travels to countries abroad; I realized that the Indian aesthetic industry needed a technology intervention and slowly and gradually I started bringing home the technology Indian skin deserved.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

You are equally important. Your health, your career, your financial freedom, your skincare, your mental health, all this matters. It is okay to look good. It is okay to pamper yourself. It is absolutely okay to invest in yourself. It is not okay to feel guilty or ashamed about prioritizing your needs.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Our CSR initiative during COVID ‘Alive to Serve’ and followed by a seva OPD at Guru Harkrishan hospital, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara as a community service since 2000, is something I am really proud of. More than the initiatives, I am thankful to the almighty for the lives I have touched. As a doctor, educator, businesswoman, philanthropist or ‘Doyenne’ as you call me, it is a great feeling to know that I have got the opportunity to impact so many lives in a positive way.
