Celebrating the Doyenne: Damayanti Bhattacharya

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Damayanti Bhattacharya is the Principal of Jasudben M L School and Bloomingdales Pre-Primary.

What is your wellness philosophy?

My wellness philosophy is very simple – eat in moderation, drink a lot of water, be kind to others, declutter your home, plant trees and spend lots of time with your loved ones and laugh at silly jokes that are not malicious. Life is as simple and beautiful. Bask in its goodness!

Your success mantra?

Read, upgrade your skills, look at the bigger picture–be passionate about what you do and work hard.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

I will not elaborate on the mistake. But the lesson that I learned was that every activity that one takes responsibility for, must be planned METICULOUSLY especially when others are involved. One must weigh all pros and cons with care & seek the advice of the more experienced.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Women must not depend on anyone else to be empowered. They must stop trying to measure up to others ‘ ideas of how a woman should look, walk & talk. A woman must support another woman. Women are strong because they are resilient. The power of the woman is infinite!

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

I take pride in the fact that I have learned from every little mistake I have made. Every time I fell, and picked myself up– I emerged stronger and became a better version of myself.
