Payal Singhal for Indya: A Summer Festive Capsule

Setting the tone for the new season of intimate weddings, Delhi based ethno-fusion brand, Indya launched a summer festive capsule collection in collaboration with designer Payal Singhal. Created for the new age bride and her tribe.

“Spring is all about new beginnings, and that is precisely what the Payal Singhal for Indya collaboration stands for”, says Payal Singhal when talking about her inspiration behind this collection, “We wanted to create a line of fuss-free and free-spirited exuberance for the new age bride and her tribe. As occasions get more intimate everyone is looking for an outfit with great re-wear value, affordable price points and yet trendy. This collection is inspired by this very thought and there is something for every age group, every body type and perfect for the bride and her squad.” And that’s true, the capsule comprises of 64 stylish separates. It includes drop crotch pants, shararas, jumpsuits, pre-stitched saris, jackets, tops, kurtas, and dupattas. Forming the building blocks of a festive wardrobe, the separates can be pieced together to create stunning head-to-toe looks or worn separately with existing closet pieces. A sorbet colour palette of blush pink, mint, powder blue, and grey with pops of lemon yellow and navy have been spruced with Payal Singhal’s trademark gypset and tribal embellishments for an end-result that is equal parts playful and poised. If there is one word that describes the collection perfectly, Payal says it has to be ‘Boho Chic’.

Tanvi Malik (co-founder of Indya) like Payal Singhal, aims to reinvent ethnic Indian wear for the multi-tasking millennial Indian woman. Tanvi explains, “Keeping traditional silhouettes as the starting point, we present a fresh and functional take with designs that are light and easy to slip into and style. This collection sees our signature pre-stitched sari skirts and pants, festive jumpsuits, coordinated jacket sets, and flowy maxi skirts. The designs are amped up with foil prints and mirror work that we use extensively in our lines. Our design language has blossomed beautifully in this collaborative collection.”

Upon choosing the collaboration with Indya, Payal says that she always wanted to do a collection that makes Payal Singhal signature more approachable and attanable, “Our endeavour has always been to be an all-encompassing label that offers something for everyone at every price point, and for that, Indya made for the perfect brand to work with. Their clothes are glamorous, current, and affordable made for a woman who is a modern, confident, independent, and who is a stylish global citizen. Fashion is a form of self-expression for her, and this is exactly the kind of woman we as a label design for.” And Tanvi couldn’t agree more. For her, Payal’s brand ethos, just like Indya’s, is to break the cultural code and present a renewed take on traditional Indian wear with clothes that are glamorous, fuss-free, and modern in styling all while harkening back to their roots. She says, “We feel great synergy with her brand for all that her clothes stand for. She has pioneered easy Indian glam across sizes and body types in her design language – a direction that we have aimed and worked on right from the start. Making her aesthetic more accessible is a step forward in our endeavor to democratize designer Indian wear.”

Along with being fresh, flattering, and versatile, what steers this collection is inclusivity. Available in sizes XS to 4XL selectively, the collection has something for every experimental and fashion-forward woman out there.

The collection will be retailed at Indya’s exclusive brand stores and key large format stores across the country, and the brand’s website, www.houseofindya.com.
