It’s officially the season of Band, Baaja and Bollywood, with all the leading ladies walking down the aisle towards the love of their lives. The latest addition to the love-struck parade is none other than Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha. Apart from its love-filled moments and traditional Punjabi rituals, what undoubtedly stole the spotlight at their wedding was the extraordinary yet subtle fashion statement that the actress made with her bridal attire and jewellery.

All thanks to Anushka Sharma’s wedding trousseau, Indian wedding couture has undergone a major transformation, leaving several trends in its wake. The traditional red has taken a back seat, with modern brides opting for ivories and pastels instead. A new wave of bridal jewellery has emerged, with a focus on emerald jewellery, customised kaleeras and veils, and statement mangalsutras. Be it the wedding pictures of Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra that broke the internet or Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s intimate ceremony, massive sartorial lessons have been served. We have rounded up the latest bridal trends, straight from B-town, so that you don’t have to spend hours scrolling Pinterest. Take a look.

Pastel Lehengas

From sarees to lehengas, pastels make the perfect hue for summer and spring weddings. Celebrity weddings have lately taken the pastel route for their bridal ensembles, and actresses like Kiara Advani, Athiya Shetty, Alia Bhatt, Richa Chadha, and Karishma Tanna have ditched the traditional red and adorned pastel bridalwear on their wedding day.

An Element of Customisation

Personalised wedding jewellery replete with initials, talismans, and significant motifs reigns supreme. Alia Bhatt personalised her bridal veil with her wedding date, while her bangles consisted of clouds, waves, stars, the sun, and an infinity symbol. Hopping on the trend was Kiara, who featured Sidharth’s beloved dog, Oscar, and their favourite travel destination, Rome. Even Athiya Shetty opted for customised ‘kaleeras’ for her wedding. The latest Bollywood bride, Parineeti Chopra, also opted for a customised veil with her husband Raghav’s name embroidered on it.

Keeping it Minimal

Championing the less-is-more look, Parineeti Chopra embraced the nude and minimal glam for her wedding day. The bride stunned in nude-toned makeup with a wash of blush, champagne-toned eyeshadow, and a muted pink lip, with mascara-laden false eyelashes lined on kohl-rimmed eyes. This subtle yet beautiful makeup trend was also spotted on Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani, Aathiya Shetty, and Katrina Kaif for their D-day. Clean Girl make-up focuses more on prepping the skin and uses light and neutral colours with minimal product usage. Brides, take notes when planning your wedding look.

Emerald Jewellery

If the recent Bollywood weddings have taught us anything about jewellery trends, it’s that 2023 will be the year of emeralds. The trend mostly took over after Kiara Advani wore a diamond and emerald-studded necklace to her wedding as well as her reception. Vintage polki, pearls, and emeralds may just be what the stars are favouring right now.

Open ’em Tresses

Open hairdos for wedding nuptials are the latest trend. Most Indian brides opt for traditional buns for their wedding look, but our Bollywood divas have switched things up by keeping their tresses open. Similar to Alia Bhatt or Parineeti Chopra, you can simply let your hair down with simple loose waves with a middle partition and complete your look with either a heavy ‘matha pati’ or ‘mangtika’.
