Every household uses hand towels, yet, very few people put in thought before buying them. 1. Function
One of the most important factors to consider when buying hand towels is to know its function. Most people use hand towels for bathrooms and restroom, however they can be used for other purposes too such as during kitchen work, while playing sports, after gym and while traveling. Each function requires different qualities. For sports and gym, a softer towel is required. For the kitchen, a highly absorbent towel is needed. While there are face towels and kitchen towels that are available in the market, a hand towel can equally do justice.
2. Selecting The Right Material
Hand towels come in different types of materials. Cotton is the most preferred choice as it is durable, absorbent and breathable. If you are looking for softer hand towels, then materials such as pima cotton, Turkish cotton, Egyptian cotton and bamboo are great options. Hand towels made out of pima cotton, the softest and most opulent cotton fabric are quite popular. Turkish cotton is cosy, soft and durable and is typically found in hand towels. Egyptian cotton is the ideal substitute for making luxury hand towels as it is incredibly soft and fluffy. Whereas bamboo is preferred by those who are looking for a strong and environmentally sustainable fabric.
3. Design
There are a lot of varied options available in the market for hand towels – designs, colours and patterns. However, while buying a hand towel, it is important to ensure that the design and pattern is pleasing to the eyes and the colour matches the bathroom or kitchen. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to these aspects for selection.
4. GSM (Grams Per Square Metre)
The GSM of a hand towel can be determined by weighing it. The thicker the hand towel, the higher will be the GSM and the better the towel is. Hand towels with high GSM are puffy, incredibly absorbent and durable. Those with medium GSM are silky and long-lasting. Hand towels with low GSM are wonderful if you want simple, economical and quick drying. In conclusion, GSM basically accounts for the weight of the hand towel.
