Winter is also known as a season that can bring a lot of havoc to your health. Winter is also the time of the year where things are hard on our bodies. The most affected are the elderly, young, infants, and individuals who have an immune system that is compromised.  Taking the right food to boost your Immunity during winter is always the best alternative.

The best way to keep your Immunity strong and prevent winter flu and colds is by eating certain nourishing foods. These foods include:

  1. Garlic

Mostly used as a flavour enhancer, garlic contains sulfur-compounds in them like allicin. These compounds are great for relieving colds and also act as immunity boosters.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is a well-known spice that you can use on your tea, food, warm soup, cocktails, and also mocktails. If you have a cold or a sore throat, ginger is a great fix. It is also a great food when it comes to fighting inflammation on top of it building your Immunity.

An essential spice used in the kitchen, turmeric, is another excellent immunity booster. During winter, you can add it to your soups, tea, curries, or porridge.

The most important thing during all days is always to have a balanced diet. Deciding to overeat on one of the above foods won’t help you fight off cold or flu. Continually monitor your portions and sizes. Doing so is vital so that you don’t end up getting too little or too much of a given vitamin or food.
