Beware of these health fads & why…

Healthy lifestyle lead

From Hydrogen Water to Pink Himalayan Salts – here’s the truth behind the fads and why you need a better plan for your healthy lifestyle.

Perhaps you have heard of some of the many diets that are popular right now. For example, the DASH diet, the zone diet, the paleo diet, and the raw vegan diet. These may work for some people, and you should feel free to try them out because you might be one of them, but diets are like medication: they work differently for everybody. What you need is a diet that is built around your body type, lifestyle, and other specific needs.

How Lifestyle and Diet Go Hand in Hand

Healthy lifestyle 1

Your lifestyle can range from sedentary to very active, and no matter where you fall on that spectrum, you must keep in mind what your body needs to maintain that lifestyle. For instance, if you go running every day as part of your exercise regimen, then you need to eat more foods high in healthy fats and proteins so your body doesn’t burn through all of its fuel immediately. However, if you sit at a desk all day and get very little exercise, then you can get away with eating less fats. In fact, if your goal is to lose weight, then since you burn no fat at a desk you should cut them down to a minimum.

Staying Healthy While Getting Healthy

You really need to make sure that what you eat is enough for your body to keep going. Otherwise, you could end up being malnourished or with any number of vitamin deficiencies. This would also weaken your immune system, making you much more susceptible to diseases.

When you eat, don’t just think about how much weight you will gain or how full your stomach will get, think about your heart, your brain, your cells, and they are what needs the food you are eating, and not you. Cutting back a bit never hurt anyone and eating healthier is fantastic for all of your bodily systems and can increase your lifespan if you do it consistently, but just make sure you know what your body needs. Do some research on how much protein your brain needs to continue to think for you, how much fat your muscles need to stay healthy, and so on and so forth.

Getting healthy is not as simple drinking special water or switching to organic foods. It takes work and dedication, and no one who has succeeded in this task will ever tell you that it was easy. It also takes time, so don’t think that one of those “30-day diets” you see on tv will really solve your problems. It will take months, maybe years, to truly improve your lifestyle significantly. But don’t be discouraged, many people have done it, you just need to commit, maybe even hire a trainer or dietician to help you stay on track and keep in the front of your mind the goal of becoming a healthier, happier version of yourself.
