WINTER SKINCARE CHECKLIST

Every season comes with a new set of skincare needs as your skins’ requirements change with every changing season. Winters, in particular, calls for extra moisturization and skin nourishment or else the dry weather could wreak havoc to your skin. Here are a few winter skincare tips from Ms. Isha Bindra, Communications Manager at Kiehl’s India, on how to be mindful of what you are using on your skin to achieve that radiant winter glow.

Moisturisers- your best friend: Usage of moisturisers should be a compulsion in your skincare routine during winters. Our skin tends to become dry and flaky and a moisturizing lotion specially helps with that. It is best if your skin is moisturized at least thrice a day to keep dryness at bay.

Hyaluronic acid for the win: Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient in trend these days and an important one. The major work of this ingredient is to retain the moisture and hydrate your skin. Products with hyaluronic acid should be applied to a wet skin surface to retain the moisture in the skin not letting it to dry out. It keeps the skin looking dewy and fresh.

Lip nourishment: Our lips deserve the same kind of attention as our skin does. Lips tend to get chapped during the winters and the best way to not let our plump lips lose its charm is to keep a lip balm close to you at all times. Lip balms and lip oils with coconut butter, shea butter and vitamin E can do wonders for your lips. Application of these lip oils and balms should be done at regular intervals in a day to keep your lips looking smooth and luscious.

Don’t shy away from scrubs: Just because its winter doesn’t mean its time to lock up your scrubs in the bathroom cabinet. Infact, scrubs should be welcomed in your winter skincare routine to get rid of any dry skin or dead skin cells. A mild scrub should be used to unclog those pores and give your skin a bright look.

No Bueno: Some ingredients should be stripped off your skincare products. Alcohol being a major one. Products with alcohol tend to strip off the moisture from your skin and are the worst for sensitive skin. Alcohol based products can cause irritation and make your skin look irritated and dull. Ensure to use products that are soothing and are a friend to your skin during the harsh weather conditions.
