Mr. V.N. Dalmia who has been the brain behind the founding of ‘India Olive Association’, continues to remain the Founder President to provide his guidance to the growth and development of this Association.

The Indian Olive Association (IOA), established in 2007, is the national apex association of olive and olive oil producers, growers, distributors, importers, users, and consumers, with the objective to promote, protect and safeguard the interests of the olive and olive oil industry in India. It also represents the industry before the government, circulating information and statistics to members and obtaining the removal of grievances affecting the industry.

Another outlook of this association is to increase awareness about olives and olive oil among the general population and to effectively promote their consumption through publicity on their nutritional and health benefits, unique taste characteristics and versatility. The Association is now taking the digital route by undertaking promotional activities in order to market IOA and the perception about Olive Oil with a broad-based message about the overall category in the context of the Indian consumer and to reach out to more and more people.

“Imports have been encouraging in the first quarter of this financial year 2018-19 with a decent increase of 13%, amounting to 3400.8 MT in April-June as compared to 3000.2 MT in the same period last year. India imports olive oil largely from Spain and Italy, which contributed 98% of total imports in this quarter.” says Upadhyay.

IOA also actively works towards introducing standardization in the industry and market, establishing procedures to assure accurate labelling for the various grades and types of olives and olive oil and lay down quality standards and encourage their adoption.
