With Obesity Levels at an All-time High, Why the Need for One’s Fitness is Essential

According to Journal of American health, obesity affects an estimated 100 million Americans, with women and children being the most affected.    Fitness is one of the most effective programs to help in obesity management and reduction.   Fitness enhances fat distribution   Fats contribute to obesity in two main ways; the amount of fat stored in the body and the distribution of fat. When the fat distribution is mainly located in the upper part of the body, it contributes to the development of chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and increased cholesterol level and hormone dysfunction. Fitness, particularly exercising, can help in ensuring the metabolism of stored fat, thus improving overall body wellness.   Fitness promotes weight loss   Excess weight is a major contributing factor in obesity. According to experts, BMI (body mass index) is used to determine obesity with BMI higher than 25kg/m2 being considered as obese. When fitness is combined with diet and medication, then weight loss can be achieved faster. Exercise promotes the burning of calories, hence ensuring that you burn more calories than intake. Also, exercising reduces cravings, thus helps one control when and what they eat.   Enhances sugar metabolism   Touted to be one of the main contributors to obesity, consumption of sugar is linked to weight gain since sugary items like soda, cakes, and ice cream leaves one with more cravings. Sugar, mainly processed sugar, contains zero proteins which is known to promote fullness. Hence, sugar consumption can make you feel hungry more frequently; hence, you tend to more food during meals and bites between meals. Also, sugar contains less fiber, which is another ingredient known to promote fullness.   Exercise helps prevent obesity by enhancing the metabolism of sugar in the body, improving on glucose metabolism, reducing fasting of glucose in the blood and enhancing tolerance of glucose in the body, which reduces resistance to insulin.   Fitness is one of the best strategies that can help in the reduction and management of obesity. Adopt a fitness program that has more exercise for best results.
