Jab We Met, Naggar Castle- Manali

Admit it, we all have wanted to dress up like Geet and dance to ‘yeh Ishq hai’, in the middle of snow-capped roads. Jab We Met is definitely one of the Bollywood movies that will always be our favourites.

However, not many of you might know that the evergreen song ‘yeh Ishq hai’ was shot in a medieval castle in Himachal Pradesh. The Naggar Castel is carved out of wood and stone and overlooks the stunning Kullu valley. The ancient marvel hosts an art gallery with paintings of renowned artists. The Garhwali food at the restaurant in the castle complex is another treat on offer here.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Pangong lake – Ladhak

The epic entry scene of Shahrukh Khan, from ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ where he is seen riding a Royal Enfield, is shot near the beautiful Pangong lake. The scene is simply, unforgettable for two reasons, first, it has SRK, and second the mesmerizing beauty of the picturesque Pangong lake.

The world’s highest lake, situated right in the middle of the world’s mightiest mountain ranges the Himalayas and the Karakoram loosely translates to enchanting, which is exactly what the lake is! You can stare into the depths and experience the river change to shades of green while the gentle breeze brushes against your face. Sounds like a scene straight out of a movie!

Bramhastra, Banaras Ghats

Banaras has often gone under the lens of several filmmakers to capture its timeless beauty. The most recent and trending movie to capture the essence of the holy city is ‘Bramhastra’, through their hit romantic number ‘kesariya’. Banaras is portrayed in the song on the ghats with the couple walking through the narrow alleyways of the historical city.

The shimmering ghats create an idyllic image of nature, especially during sunrise and sunset. The ghats and river become clear of mist and look completely breathtaking. You can either capture the charm of the city by taking a boat ride on the holy Ganga or walk aimlessly along the ghats.

Swades, Wai Village – Maharashtra

If you are an off-beat traveller and a Bollywood Buff, you should definitely plan a trip to Wai Village, located 90 km from Pune. It is a pit spot for tourists, due to its alluring views and uncanny similarities to Varanasi. It is also called the Kashi of Dakshin or the town of temples as it is home to over 100 temples and ghats. These ghats are surrounded by hillocks and waterfalls which has made the village a quintessential destination for filmmakers.

‘Swades’ introduced the beauty of Wai to the world. The open courtyard house of Kaveri amma, the school, and the, famous song ‘Yeh tara woh tara were all shot in the village. Since then, several Bollywood sequences and films like Dabbang, Bol Bachhan, Chennai Express, Singham, and more have been shot in the village.

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Oberoi Udaivilas Palace – Udaipur

Bollywood has a knack for showcasing weddings with pomp and grandeur and what better place that combines luxury and royalty under one roof? Overlooking Lake Pichola, the Uday Vilas Palace is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world!
