Incorporating dance and workouts have become quite a phenomenon globally. There are many dance formats that can help reduce weight and burn unnecessary calories!

We all want to look slim and keep fit. Exercise and regular gym might not be everyone’s cup of tea, especially during the quarantine. So here are whirlwind dance forms for you to keep in shape:

FREESTYLE

This style of dance not only helps in maintaining weight but also makes the body more flexible as dancers can move freely without being concerned about the steps or body coordination. It is one of the easiest dance steps that can be performed by people of all ages on any type of music. The dance moves give the performers the freedom to increase and decrease the pace as they like. Performing freestyle dance every day for 30 minutes can assist in reducing weight.

HIP-HOP

Hip Hop with its faster body movements involves the entire body as it requires faster succession. This high energy dance workout is ideal for both beginners and experienced people. The dance form gets its name as primarily it involves the hips and waist thus helping to firm and tone the abs. Dancing alone or in a group for an hour everyday can burn 250 calories.

BELLY DANCE

Belly dance is an exotic dance art which helps in fixing problems of hips, back and abs. The dance form involves slow, controlled movements to control flexibility and the circular motions. These movements result in burning the lower body calories including thighs and abdominal fat. Strengthened muscles not only improve posture but also prevent back pain which is one of the hindrances to workout. This dance form creates less stress on the bones, improving bone density. SALSA

A combination of various dance forms like salsa, rumba, merengue and hip hop, the movements result in a cardio workout. Many gym chains offer Zumba classes aiming to make working out enjoyable. There is no need for a person to have a partner as the steps are easy isolating arms, abs and legs for individual strengthening. Zumba can be termed as an aerobic workout for overall wellness. Zumba has emerged as one of the most sought out dance formats globally.

BALLET

Often considered as a dance format with slow movements, Ballet is a low impact dance form that plays a vital role in shaping the body. Flexibility, strength and precision are the key parameters in performing most of the positions and movements. The slow speed and posture required in this dance step are quite similar to Pilates as the slow controlled movements help in building muscles. The slow movements stretch muscles resulting in a full body workout, thus, leading to a better concentration level.

JAZZERCISE

This is one of the world’s oldest dance formats that was founded in 1969 that combines jazz music to strengthen, tone muscles and burn calories simultaneously. Muscles are built through workouts with the use of barbells and dumbbells. It also involves yoga movements and classic Pilates strengthening muscles while the cardio boxing brings forward an aerobic workout. The workout can burn at least 600 calories if performed for an hour 2 to 3 times in a week in order to lose weight rapidly.
