The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands Partners with Legendary Jean-Michel Cousteau

In the recent updates, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands join hands with Jean-Michel Cousteau to extend the Ambassadors of the Environment program to the Maldives.

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau and his organization Ocean’s Future Society. The property opened up on June 1, 2021. This venture makes it the only property to offer the Ambassadors of the Environment program in the region.

This latest venture will join five other properties of Ritz-Carlton. The other properties include The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman; The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua; Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara and Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. This program, exclusive for the Ritz-Carlton brand will ensure that the guest experience all the Maldivian wonders both above and below the waters.

This new venture is based on the value system of Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society. It will offer an immersive and educational programme that will expose the guests to the world of delicate ecosystems of the Maldives. The programme offers an array of activities which snorkeling (day and night), diving, ocean drone, environmental activities, underwater photography and videography to name a few.

Celebrate the Maldivian rich ecosystems by becoming an Ocean Ranger. The recent venture will introduce guest to experience the deep blue waters of North Malé laden with vibrant coral reef, dive sites and sandbanks.

Jean-Michel Cousteau has dedicated all his life to amplify the value of the ocean, its heritage and the need to protect it. He, over the years, has collaborated with the leaders of various countries and industries to educate people about the sustainable management of the ocean and its resources.

Richard Murphy has a PhD in marine biology and began working with Jean-Michel and his father in 1968. He has participated alongside Jean-Michel in his expeditions around the world serving as a photographer, scientist, educator, and spokesman. Presently he is leading the Ambassadors of the Environment teams, meaning he is closely involved with the Ritz-Carlton brand and their organization’s latest venture. Murphy said in a statement that, “Extending the Ambassadors of the Environment program to the Maldives was an obvious next step for the brand as it will allow our naturalists to create new and cutting-edge programming for the resort’s guests”.

He also said that “We call the program Ambassadors of the Environment because we want people to return home with the inspiration and motivation to live more sustainably and to appreciate the importance of protecting the nature that keeps our planet habitable for us and all other species”.

The General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, Mark Hehir said that “As the only resort offering this in the region, our partnership with the iconic Jean-Michel Cousteau will further our commitment to a sustainable future and bring this incredibly important environmental preservation aspect through to the guest experience”.
