Evolution of the hospitality industry and the need for it

Having been a custodian of a wellness brand for the last 10 years, Mr. Manu Rishi Guptha, CEO, Niraamaya Wellness Retreats, believes that going forward the entire industry will pivot towards the unexplored and the underappreciated world of wellness. Here is what he explains about the evolution the industry needs.

The only constant is change.

Not only would this hold true for the hospitality industry, but it would hold true for all aspects of human existence. People travelling on business would also want their life or their travel to have some aspect of wellness, people going for leisure breaks with their family would want some aspect of wellness, people living at home and not travelling anywhere would start introspecting whether they are doing things that take them closer towards wellbeing.

After 9/11 we saw stricter security measures being applied across the industry, in a similar manner in the post virus era all the usual acceptable protocols advised by the competent authorities will be adhered to. In addition to that, the hospitality industry is going all out to reduce proximity and guest connect in a manner that enthuses a greater degree of confidence amongst all our customers. We also saw technology playing a major role in the evolution of the industry with smart tools like channel managers, new website applications, mobile apps and property management systems which led to exponential growth and made way for more hotels to open across the country. In the current scenario, I believe small boutique hotels that are nimble have the luxury to change their strategy and business management model almost immediately compared to bigger brands. They also have a better grip on their expenses and small boutique hotels like ours can weave a story and a narrative that is hotel and destination specific.

As I mentioned earlier that the entire industry will pivot towards wellness. Enough statistics are available to make us believe that the size of the wellness market is about USD 4.2 Trillion representing 5% of global economic output. The Indian Wellness Industry is estimated at USD 20 billion and this is expected to grow at an exponential rate due to higher consumer awareness. I also believe that India’s genetic makeup and evolution over the last few thousand years is such that the people of the sub-continent require more wellness because of the incidence of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity which are actually becoming a threat to our health and well-being.

Niraamaya is now diversifying and expanding its scope into functional medicine with Daivam Wellness who are considered pioneers in this field. The programs that we have developed along with Daivam Wellness will specifically target the 4 critical lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, stress, and hypertension which are currently afflicting the planet and are the root causes of 90% other morbidities. These programs are meant to specifically reverse and cure rather than just prevent. Our flagship immunity boosting intensive program is a game changer that will ensure that you are set on the path to true wellness and good health.

And therefore, it is truism to say that “Change is the basis of no change”.
