Dia Mirza: UNEP and Goodwill Ambassador urges Support for Environment

As the first UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India and also Ambassador for Wildlife Trust of India, Dia Mirza celebrates this World Environment Day urging all to make sustainable changes and “building back” for nature.

Actor-producer turned environment enthusiast and activist, Dia Mirza has successfully garnered herself as one of the leading advocates for our planet. Amassing awareness, and herself stepping out on the field during cleanups and management protocol, here’s how the actress continues to move forward with her cause.

The famed actress has not only gone 100% sustainable at home in order to support birds and butterflies flourish in their ecosystem but has also actively participated and been the face of many campaigns around the country.

This year, the actress celebrates World Environment Day urging people to make as many sustainable changes, adding, “We don’t have a choice.”

“The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature. Yet, these are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message: To care for ourselves, we must care for nature. It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices. It’s time to build back better for People and Planet. This World Environment Day, it’s Time for Nature,” Mirza iterated through her message video.

She also joined hands with actor Bhumi Pandekar for her “One Wish for the Earth” campaign requesting her industry peers to share their wishes through social media – raising prompt awareness amongst followers.

As a Goodwill Ambassador. Dia continues to support the cause by raising awareness on priority areas including the need for clean air, clean oceans, wildlife protection, and climate change as well.

Constantly raising awareness and working towards conservation and protection, Dia Mirza is easily one of India’s leading personalities to look up to when it comes to eco-conscious living and conserving planet Earth.
