Vaishali Shadangule is the founder and creative director of Vaishali S, an eponymous brand born out of designer Vaishali’s genuine affection and passion for the classic Indian weaves. Working with authentic woven textiles, perennially telling a culturally-rich tale about the country’s heritage, the brand has endeavoured to lend the Indian handloom weave a global design language of expression since March 2001.

What is your wellness philosophy?

I think (and follow) wellness is about moderate training, eating healthily, daily yoga and meditation. And even more than that it is about having a job where you can dive full heartedly and passionately.

Your success mantra?

Dive full heartedly and with dedication towards where you feel the call. Business life is full of obstacles, but nothing can be overwhelming if you are passionate for what you do and if your work has a deeper meaning.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Oh, I have made many a mistake. In the end I always enjoy them, because I have learned to take them as lessons. Mistakes are a source of learning whose ROI is always positive in the long run. The bad effects fade after a while, while the learning stays for a lifelong.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

We are lucky we are leaving an age when women can actually do what they want, and an age when qualities such as soft skills, for which women are generally stronger, are regarded as the most valuables.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

That finally my shouting out about Indian hand weaves is being heard and they are getting their rightful place.
