Tara Malhotra is the founder of Nytarra, a conscious beauty brand that offers beauty products that are not just harmless for your skin but are also friendly for the environment.
What is your wellness philosophy?
Wellness to me is a combination of well-being and happiness. I believe taking care of my well being which in-turn allows me to care for others. It includes my emotional, spiritual, nutritional, intellectual, and social well-being. Both go hand in hand, helping me to live a happy and balanced life.
Your success mantra?
I believe that how you start your day is really important. For as long as I can remember, I have belonged to the 5 am club. Apart from the long list of benefits of going to bed early and starting my day early – the most important benefit is of having more working hours in the day allowing me to set the agenda right. It helps to be proactive and not reactive.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
There is never a perfect moment to do something. The perfect moment was yesterday. If your gut tells you to do something, you better listen to it! It’s called a gut feeling for a reason! Also, never get comfortable in your comfort zone!
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
Julia stiles once said ‘Comparison is a thief of joy’–and I couldn’t agree more. All women are unique and amazing. Society has conditioned us to be culturally and socially fearful – but we need to stop this. In my experience, as women, we tend to seek more validation than venturing out into the unknown. It is time to stop borrowing pages from someone else’s story and start writing our own.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
My biggest pride is having single-handedly created Nytarra. It takes great courage to take that leap of faith, quit a well-paying job and decide to build a business around your passion. Entrepreneurship is not easy, it’s a battle every day but nothing fills me with more joy when I read the honest reviews shared by my clients. Everything else becomes secondary.
