Celebrating the Doyenne: Shubhangi Rastogi

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Shubhangi Rastogi is the Founder & CEO of Mind Alcove. Originally a passion project, Mind Alcove is now a worldwide brand. It is a place of expression where individuals can feel comfortable sharing their daily challenges, frustrations, and joys.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness means pursuing physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Answering the question, what does it take to make me feel good today?

I believe wellness is a concoction of striving for emotional fitness, life-work-self-balance, establishing preventive habits, building resilience, self-care, and the holistic mind-body connection.

Your success mantra?

My success mantra is that I can learn anything I want to build, whatever I desire.

We live in an age where accessing knowledge is as easy as going for a walk. The only thing a person needs to manage is what to do with so much information and how to curate it for your requirement. You never need to know everything, and it’s okay to say you don’t know.

I got the courage to build a company after obsessively learning everything I could through a curated learning process and the online tools available. You may stumble in the process, but no learning goes to waste.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

As I was building my first venture, I made many mistakes in the process. There were multiple first-time experiences, so it was apparent that I would fail the first time. I learned that you will never know what works for you if you don’t make enough mistakes or stop experimenting.

Sure, there are many experiences that successful entrepreneurs have graciously shared, and there is a list of mistakes to be avoided, but everyone would make one, and one day, you would realize that’s the best thing that happened.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

I have two pieces of advice, 1. Dream big & 2. It’s never too late or early to start whatever you want to achieve.

It’s life-altering when you dream big and push yourself to a growth mindset. Don’t let constraints bind you; figure out how to achieve your dreams with these constraints. There’s a solution everywhere, and women are wired to figure out elegant solutions in the most complex situations.

Once you dream big, everything will automatically fall into place, as the journey there will make you take a hard look at your constraints and equip you to manage them. And don’t let people tell you, you can’t start something at an “X” age because it’s your journey. You will know when you are ready.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My biggest pride is my startup’s vision & philosophy to empower people through emotional fitness. We are helping people see mental health from the prevention lens and encouraging them to care for their minds daily.
