Celebrating the Doyenne: Rimple Narula

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Retailer and couturier from Delhi, Rimple’s brand Rimple and Harpreet Couture is one of the most sought-after brands for Bridal Outfits and occasion wear and caters to clients globally.

What is your wellness philosophy?

However busy I am, I start my day with a yogic meditation and gratitude ritual. I also always believe in starting the day by drinking honey and warm water. My day goes well once I follow this everyday morning ritual, after which I’m wide awake and ready to take on the day!

Your success mantra?

In life, you have to remain focused on your goals and while you persevere, keep your faith in your dreams strong because I believe once you have achieved it in your mind, you will achieve it in your life. There is always a chance of failure, setbacks, and unexpected detours. What’s important is getting back up and focussing on moving forward and upward.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Well, what’s life without making mistakes? I still make so many mistakes and the best thing about making mistakes is they teach you, they teach you about new approaches to take and give you the gift of enhanced perspective. A person who makes mistakes is an experienced person and as I have realised, an experienced person is more valued in any industry, so don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

I think women at times waste a lot of time contemplating the future- thinking about how it is going to happen, and how will I manage the juggle between job and home. But it’s a new world now. When you are claiming to have equal rights like men, then stand up and start taking action. I believe you cannot wait because things/opportunities are not going to fall in place or in your lap. Be confident and courageous and all that is meant for you will find a way to reach you!

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My achievements are my pride and my brides who trust me from all over the world! When they post their pictures on social media thanking me, it’s a very overwhelming feeling. I was born to be a designer, it was my dream since childhood to dress people and empower them through the medium of fashion. My most special milestone though remains the movie PADMAAVAT when Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office gave us a call! I couldn’t believe it. It was the proudest moment for my team to be looking at Ranveer, Deepika, Shahid & Aditi Rao on screen in our label. It was a golden opportunity in my journey as a designer to be the designer for such a work of art as Padmaavat. More than anything, I thought that if I could inspire future designers with my work in Padmaavat, well that would also be my biggest pride!
