“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.
Richa Singh is the Co-founder and CEO of YourDOST. It is one of the most sought out online counselling platforms throughout the pandemic that provides personalized guidance through the expertise of psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, life coaches, and career guides to people at the click of their mouse.
What is your wellness philosophy?
I believe that wellness is all about inculcating old school healthy habits into our lives - waking up early in the morning, running, drinking a lot of water, etc. If you we all were to do this, there will be wellness. Also, don't forget that we are human which means we are vulnerable. So, if we're going through some trouble, we should talk about it.
Your success mantra?
Just because you believe in something doesn’t mean you will achieve success overnight. It's important that you go all in and put in all the effort humanly possible to make it happen.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
Mistakes are important as that is how you learn. A philosophy that we often hear as we are growing up in India is - 'keep working hard and people will take notice'. But that's not always the case. You may get stuck in this vicious circle wherein you work hard thinking that people will notice. Then when they don't take notice, you think that you're not working hard enough, and you redouble your efforts but still see the same results. Recognition is an important part of success and to break this vicious circle and achieve recognition, you also need to talk about the work you're doing.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
We can make it happen. We're perfectly capable of making large resilient businesses and being top leaders in organisations. Society will often tell us that it's not a woman's place to lead and that affects many women's confidence. We need to fight this actively and we need to confident in our abilities as leaders.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
I strongly believe that business and social good can go hand in hand. With our work at YourDOST, we're proving this to be a reality every day. We're making a real impact in people's lives and I'm tremendously proud of this.
