What is your wellness philosophy?
Eat Lean, Think Clean. To me, wellness is the well-being of Mind, Heart, and Body. When I am in a happy state of being, when I am not looking towards others to find joy, when I am able to create that happiness within me, when I am able to live in the moment without worrying about the next and when I am able to sprinkle a dash of yoga to it, I know I am in a state of wellbeing and this to me is wellness.
Your success mantra?
There is nothing more powerful than real knowledge. It is the premise of progress. When you dig deep, you research, you explore, you learn...when you want to become the sea that allows the rivers of knowledge to flow into itself, you have created the stepping-stones to success. But when that knowledge empowers you, you must learn to stay grounded. The combination of real knowledge and humility is the biggest Success Mantra for me.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
Mistakes come as teachers. And you can learn from them only if you accept them, own them and be wise enough to never repeat them. I have made mistakes when I have stepped out of my comfort zone, and I have made mistakes when I have wanted to explore the unexplored, even when I have been warned. And each time that I have acknowledged it and learned from it, I have grown. So, a lesson that I have learned from making MISTAKES, is to acknowledge, take responsibility and move on, knowing that I am one mistake wiser and many strides ahead.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
Today, women are stepping into bigger roles, fulfilling bigger dreams and achieving recognition and financial independence. Yet, they are natural nurturers. Nature has made them a certain way. This deep-seated nurturing often fills them with guilt when home responsibilities are compromised. This pushes them to put in more than a hundred percent and can often lead to higher levels of stress and exhaustion. My advice to all you wonderful women is to ask you to not be the superhero all the time. It’s alright to let your family know that you get tired, and it’s alright to ask your spouse to go for the parent teacher meeting. It’s alright to take out time for friends. It’s healthy. It’s alright to ask.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
I am grateful for the recognition I have received over the years. I feel both grateful and humbled for being appreciated by my innumerable clients and followers. Appreciation validates one’s work at a certain level, no doubt. And I feel this childlike enthusiasm every day for the positive difference I am able to bring to people’s lives. But my biggest pride is having raised my two daughters who feel inspired by my success and yet are not limited by it. This inspiration has given them their own wings to fly. And some day, they will be their own doyenne.
