Maia Sethna is a luxury fashion influencer who has come from a background in travel and fashion.
What is your wellness philosophy?
Everything in moderation. These wise words were ingrained in me by my paternal grandmother from a very early age. I believe in balance and routine and make sure I get enough rest, hydration, nourishment, and movement in a day. Good thoughts, a lot of laughter with my friends and cuddles with my dogs are also high up on my list.
Your success mantra?
If at first you don’t succeed, try again and again and again (if you must). Don’t give up easily.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
Always stand up for yourself and draw healthy boundaries. There are people that will mistake your kindness for weakness and try to take advantage of that.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
We live in an age where being ‘busy’ and overworking ourselves is glorified. There’s so much competition both on and offline that we often tend to put a lot of unnecessary pressure on ourselves. We compare and we compete until it drives us crazy. Remember, people are only showing you the best, happiest versions of themselves online. My advice to all the women out there is to believe that you are doing the best that you can. It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to have days where you feel tired, low and overwhelmed. Give yourself some time to rest and recharge your batteries and stop being so self-critical. We must learn to become our own cheerleaders instead.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
I don’t have any airs about myself or believe myself to be a doyenne. However, I do believe that my position comes with a lot of responsibility, so I make sure that I am thoughtful about the content that I share. Above all else, use my position to spread positivity and inspire others, even in the smallest way.
