Underwater strength training for the ultimate beach body

Typical Gym workouts are now a thing of the past. If you follow a lot of famous fitness influencers, you would know about the upcoming trend of underwater strength training which basically involves exercising, but underwater!

While this may still seem like a “fad” to certain people, underwater training has proven to be successful with the advancement of time and technology. Changing the water temperature as per workout and combining your regular gym equipment, this technique is gaining popularity day by day. With the opening of gyms that are designed specifically for following this workout pattern, people are now going forward to include this trend in their daily workout routine.

Fitness companies like Speedo and Lifetime fitness have partnered to create Speedo fit: water fitness class program also known as WTRX water extreme. The aim is to basically combine a gym format workout with traditional aqua class principles. So, its high intensity, but with low-impact water movements. The classes make use of traditional gym equipments like dumbbells, kettlebells, and exercise bikes but all under water. Recently, this workout regime has also incorporated Zumba, ballet, yoga, and Pilates into its course and has been attracting a lot of celebrities and fitness influencers. Social media platforms were boosting up with videos of people trying the new workout technique and sharing their opinions and views.

It is also suggested that working out underwater can benefit people who suffer from arthritis and joint problems. Same goes for people who are recovering from an injury or have weaker bones or muscles. Water helps to avoid impact or stress on joints that working out on land can cause. Also, its density can cause additional resistance which leads to better results. The best part about this technique is that you can also practice it without any gym equipments the next time you’re in a pool! Just follow the basic stretching exercises and squats and you’re good to go. Or you can join your nearest aqua gym and try it yourself. Don’t be nervous, just jump straight in!
