Curbing Cellulite

We celebrate all bodies. But for those who simply don’t like cellulite, here’s how you can cut back on it the easy and healthy way.

Cellulite is excess fat that women store in their thighs, hips, buttocks and stomach areas. It seems like pillows, where fat cells struggle to contain the surplus and become lumpy – leading to dimples and bumps under the skin’s surface. It generally plays havoc with the contour of the body. Unfortunately cellulite is a trouble creator for women of all ages.

WHAT CAUSES CELLULITE

The sedentary life leads to accumulation of fats in body. It also troubles women who are slim and diet because their body clings desperately to any fat and stores it. Toxins, such as alcohol and caffeine, along with a sluggish circulation, are said to worsen the appearance of cellulite.  It is stored in the subcutaneous fat layer, which is trapped between the dermis and the reserve fat. The main causes are lifestyle, hormones, food and age.

HOW TO CURB IT

Hydration from fruits, vegetables and water is the key to curbing cellulite, because water facilitates fat burning. Some experts recommend ditching dairy, too. It can clog the lymphatic system and causes puffiness.

Use a firming gel or even a vegetable oil for your massage, as massage strokes are easier with some amount of lubrication. Also pure essential oils of peppermint, lemon, grapefruit, orange and geranium combined with application of special products help the lymph system to work efficiently besides ensuring the reduction and elimination of cellulite.

For a firmer look treat your body with a firming regimen after slimming. Using body shaping serums with powerful slenderizing ingredients like caffeine that disintegrates excess fat, rapidly burning them off, while a body shaping lotion to maximize the effect of slimming and firming can follow firming the skin.

Besides exercise and massage, a long-term solution to cellulite is to start eating more of the foods that speed up toxin removal. These include raw organic vegetables, fresh fruit and grains and potassium-rich foods such as bananas and avocados, which help prevent water retention. Antioxidants in cranberry juice also help flush toxins from the body, which go a long way in reducing cellulite.

Some of the Ayurvedic therapies like Udwarthanam (dry massage) with specific herbal powders along with Ayurvedic decoctions, which are most effective for improving circulation, strengthening the dermis, reducing fluid storage and controlling the hormones that allow the body to retain fat, can also be resorted to for cure.
