Mane Management made simple!

A dallop of serum, hot-oil shiatsu and what not – here’s how you can take care of your mermaid-length hair without any hassle

Hair is a constant role player in framing our identities. Most of us would relate when we say we’ve had bad days only because we didn’t feel good enough in our hair that day. It gets tough, especially when you’re a long-haired folk.

Maintaining a smooth, healthy mane is a tough nut to crack. It takes patience, it takes time and it quite literally burns pockets testing and trying every hair-saving product you can find. Long hair’s hard-hitting but it’s definitely not something to fret away from.

If you’re planning on growing out your hair or already have a glossy mane to look after, here are some tips we think will help you on the way:

  1. Start every season with a trim.

Not only are you getting rid of split ends that might have grown over time, but also saying hello to a new season with a whole new look!

  2. Be selective about your hair care products.

Especially shampoos and conditioners. Different hair types need different products like dry hair would better with rich moisturizing ingredients while gentle products would work best with fine hair. Determine for yourself what works best on your scalp and hair.

  3. Steer clear of hot water.

It’s been said time to time that hot water is and will damage your hair since it causes heavy hair fall. Wash with cold water or lukewarm when it’s too cold.

  4. Skip washing hair more often.

Washing hair regularly strips your scalp off of vital nutrients and oils (sebum) which help stimulate hair rather than deplete it. So washing twice or thrice a week is enough to maintain a healthy look.

  5. Say no to blow dryers.

One thing that constantly damages your hair is heat. Avoid blow-drying and instead air dry or pat dry your hair. If you must, use heat protection to protect the keratin of your hair.

  6. Hot oil massage prior wash.

Slather mane with coconut or olive oil 20 minutes before washing and we guarantee bouncier lustrous hair within just one wash.

  7. Use the right kind of brush.

This is highly overlooked but is just as vital as the other steps. Using wide toothed brushes like boar bristle can really bring significant volume and shine to your hair. Remember to start from the bottom hair and then move up.

  8. Add deep conditioning to your ritual.

Once every two weeks, deep condition your hair to ensure your hair stays lusciously locked all throughout.

  9. Don’t overdo on products.

As essential as serums and dry products are for the hair, not stepping out of bounds is vital for healthy hair and its long-time consistency. Don’t overdo and simply balance out your routine between commercial and homemade.

Other ways to maintain a healthy mane are eating protein rich foods and Vitamin E supplements.
