How To Repair Skin Damage and Dehydration

Say hello to clear and healthy skin in 2020 as Dr. Prerna Taneja, Medical Cosmetologist, Oral and Dental Specialist, Eximus Clinic, shares her expertise on restoring damaged skin the right way.

Damaged skin is the result of various factors like seasonal changes, body changes and also due to our neglect. A seasonal change like a sudden change in the temperature or pollution also damages the skin. The body factors can be any disease that you’re suffering from like metabolic disease, allergies or recovered from fever; this also leads to skin damage.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR SKIN

This can be divided into two factors:

Body factor

In terms of body factor, hydration is the key ingredient to repair the skin effectively and efficiently. We all know that skin is about 70-72 per cent water and the optimum function of the skin happen in the presence of the water.  So, if you notice any negative changes in your skin you need to consume an adequate amount of water.

Eat fresh fruit and vegetable in their raw form. At least 50 per cent should be taken in their raw form so that the fibre and the antioxidant potential that these fruits and vegetables contain get reduced when we cook it and that goes into our body in the concentrated form.

Local factor

Do not use soap or face washes to clean your skin instead use pH balanced cleanser and post that use an alcohol-free toner and then moisturize your skin. Moisturize frequently and adequately with the combination of the gel and cream-based moisturizer. At least you should moisturize the skin every three hours so that it starts to repair locally and get back to its healthy condition.

Apply a lot of sunscreen in the interval of three hours. You don’t just need to apply it when you’re outdoor but also when you’re back at home. And if you’re post 35 you should invest in Vitamin A cream which should be used at night that helps in epithelial turnover and do a repairing mechanism and Vitamin C cream in the day that helps in free radical damage correction and brings back the glow of your skin.
