Losing weight while being vegan can still be a good experience. All it takes is a healthy and prudent diet, some exercise, and determination!

Going vegan has innumerable health benefits. Not just that, it also contributes to saving the planet away. Veganism does not only revolve around the diet plans but includes many other facets of the lifestyle one lives. Take a look at some healthy rules of a happy vegan diet:

1.) REDUCTION OF CALORIE CONSUMPTION

The intake of calorie is directly proportional to change in weight. Similarly, amount of physical activity is also directly proportional to the number of calories burnt. For weight loss, the calorie consumption should be lesser than the number of calories burnt. Less calorie foods are oats, potatoes, berries, legumes, watermelon, etc.

2.) PROTEIN IS THE KEY

Protein intake results in enhanced metabolism, which is undeniably beneficial for weight loss. Protein also reduces frequent hunger issues by reducing levels of the hunger hormone called Ghrelin. The presence of protein in the body boosts the process of burning of fats. High protein intake coupled with exercise is a very prudent option for loss of weight. Tofu, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, almonds, peanuts, etc. are an excellent source of protein.

3.) BEFRIEND YOUR FRUITS

A taste-friendly option on the journey of weight loss is, consumption of fruits. Fruits are high in fibre and contain very few calories. Fruits are a high source of nutrients and vitamins, which helps in feeling full for a long period of time. The best fruits for weight loss are apples, berries, avocados, kiwis, melons, oranges and bananas.

4.) VITAMINS THAT’LL HELP

There are many vitamins that one should consider for weight loss. B vitamins help in enhanced metabolism. Sources of B vitamins are lentils, potatoes, bananas, whole grains, beans, etc. Iron helps transport oxygen to the muscles, which in turn helps in burning fats. Sources of iron are legumes, spinach, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, broccoli, etc.

5.) GO GREEN

For a healthy weight loss, green vegetables are something you can definitely include. Again, low levels of carbohydrates and calories and loads of fibre makes green vegetables, a perfect weight loss companion. The vegetables to include are spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, cucumber, kale, etc.
