On World Health Day, we’re reminding to look beyond the tip and focus on many aspects of your health iceberg.
Part of our wellness culture comes with our attention aligned only towards one part of health – the physical being. Even when we’re aware, we’re only just touching the tip of the iceberg. What lies underneath are other factions of health that require just as much nourishing and attention.
This World Health Day, GlobalSpa reminds of different aspects of health, and how one can begin now to focus more on all aspects and practice overall wellness:
MENTAL HEALTH
Studies show that 40% of all adults suffer from acute stress affects and more than 90% of visits at the doctor’s office are for stress-relief problems. In addition to that, studies have revealed that the lifetime occurrence of mental disorders in people is over 50% due to untreated acute stress issues. This is why it’s so necessary to check into our mental health. Here are quite a few ways you can do so: https://globalspaonline.com/health/investing-in-a-better-mental-health/
EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Being emotionally well is important since losing clarity of mind is losing clarity of life. Emotional wellness includes practicing positivity, optimism, mindfulness, content, forgiveness and being at peace. The best way to practice emotional health is constantly being in touch with your emotions and thoughts. You can begin by confiding in your friends or family, keeping a journal, or simply taking time with yourself for about 10 minutes every day.
SOCIAL HEALTH
Humans are social beings. That’s exactly why connecting and creating fruitful relationships is a vital part of wellness. Three ways you can easily strengthen your social health are:
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH
Occupational wellness deals with our careers and work life. Ask yourself: how do you feel about the work that you’re doing? Do you feel exhausted or supposedly burned out? Since most of our time is spent working, it’s pivotal to keep checking in on your occupational health. Another aspect of occupational health includes safety of the workplace.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Highly overlooked but equally important, environmental wellness relates to how conscious you are with the environment and the planet. Are you playing your part in creating a sustainable future for further generations? Are you aware of your choices and how they affect the environment? Each of us shall practice being environmentally healthy by constantly making eco-conscious decisions such as supporting organic and sustainable beauty brands, fashion houses, and produce.
SPIRITUAL HEALTH
Spiritual wellness is what shapes our values, morals, beliefs, virtues, purpose and perspective. It doesn’t necessarily mean religion; it’s more about understanding your self as you learn, grow and introspect. Spiritual health can be improved through both emotional and physical ways. Physically, take time to meditate, practice yoga, read empowering books, and include self-care in your routine. Emotionally, strive to be more present. Strive to be curious, discover deeper meanings, and get in touch with your core. Image Credits: unsplash.com, freepik.com
