Celebrating the Doyenne: Dr. Khushboo Thakker Garodia

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women's Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Dr Khushboo Thakker Garodia is a Homeopath, Trichologist, Nutrition & Stress Management Expert.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness to me is about living your life to its fullest potential while being healthy and happy. Prioritizing self care without feeling guilty. Wellness looks different to everyone, so I encourage people to focus on living their best life and not judging others who make different decisions.

Your success mantra?

I resonate with this quote by Steve Jobs- “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” So anytime doubts start to creep in or I question myself where I am going in life - this quote puts me right back on track.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

I have always prioritized my children and work over myself. This lockdown, where everyone demanded my attention both personally and professionally though for a while, I thought I could manage everyone and started putting myself on the back burner. Slowly I could see my energy levels depleting, me getting crankier but I just ignored myself and finally my blood pressure shot so high that I had to stop everything and pay attention to what my body was saying. While I was the one who taught others to focus on themselves, I forgot that the same applied to me as well. This alarm taught me to put myself first, too. My business needs me to be healthy and if I am not looking after myself, I cannot run my business or even look after my family.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

There is always room for you in whichever industry you belong to - you just need to have faith in yourself because no one is going to believe in yourself like you do. Always know your value and worth and what you bring to the table. Set a bold goal and go for it. You might miss it, you may face roadblocks - but eyes are always on the prize.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

I will never give up! Being a mompreneur now, I have seen hurdles and setbacks - I may slow down, I may back down - but I never quit - I know I have a dream and I will do everything in my power to make that happen.
